The fleet might have lost yesterday’s racing because of 45 knot gusts on Sydney Harbour, but today the city delivered in style and the sailors patience was rewarded with some of the best racing of the season so far, at the final Act of the 2014 Extreme Sailing Series™.

Less than two weeks after the conclusion of Act 5 Cardiff, presented by Land Rover, the Extreme 40 fleet is due for arrival in Istanbul, where the historic city will play host to the 12 competing international teams.

If anyone knows the Extreme Sailing Series™, it’s David ‘Freddie’ Carr. The British sailor raced in the inaugural circuit in 2007 – back then for the iShares Cup – before going on to win it in 2009 with Oman Sail Masirah.

A massive 10 races were sailed on penultimate day of Act 4 of the Extreme Sailing Series™ in Saint Petersburg,with superb sailing conditions that saw six different race winners result in a shake-up on the Act leaderboard.

On the final days racing at the Land Rover Extreme Sailing Series™, Act 3 Qingdao, the Olympic sailing city lived up to its reputation as a notorious and unpredictable racecourse. Even one of the biggest crashes in the Series’ eight-year history.
