Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 54 DS : Pleasure and comfort

Jeanneau-Sun-Odyssey-54-DSConstruction.

The flagship of the Jeanneau fleet, the Sun Odyssey 54 DS presented at the 2002 autumn boat shows was designed by architect Jacques Fauroux. Interior design is by Vittorio Garroni, who also worked on the new Sun Odyssey 49 DS.

Deck.

As the initials DS imply, the 54 DS cockpit serves as a Deck Saloon and is equipped with two large bench seats and a table. Two other smaller, facing bench seats are located just before the companionway. For passenger comfort, the deck is uncluttered. A large sundeck at the bow and a bathing platform at the stern ensure relaxing sunbathing and safe swimming.

Interior.

The saloon is spacious and well lit, especially by the two eye-shaped portholes in the coachroof that give
the Sun Odyssey its feline look. The saloon layout is the same on all versions: chart table on the starboard side opposite a well-equipped galley; to the fore, a lounge area with dining area opposite. The bow has room for two or three cabins and up to four bathrooms. The master cabin is in the stern, and can be split into two cabins on certain
models.

The diesel engine is either 85 or 100 hp depending on the version. Sail area is a little over 130m² with a displacement of 18t and a draught of 2.30 m. This boat has already proved to be a shining success and has inspired others: the new product for 2005 is its younger brother, the Sun Odyssey 49 DS. This boat is all about comfort, design and excellent sailing.
