Azimut 62S: a clear winner
A clear winner
Construction
Unveiled at the last Genoa boat show, the Azimut 62S did not go unnoticed amongst either the general public or professional visitors, and received the “European Powerboat of the Year” award for the over 50-foot category. Yet another boost for the brand image of this manufacturer, which aims at mass production combined with outstanding craftsmanship.
Above deck
Like the other Open models, the 62S has elegant lines invented by Italian designer Stefano Righini. The brand’s signature six square portholes are there on the side of the boat, and the fluid lines of the 62S are accentuated by the streamlined retractable hardtop, whilst the attractive arch shape of the side windows make the superstructure seem even sleeker. The 62S is not a traditional Open design, since the wheelhouse can be closed off behind bay windows that create a sheltered yet brightly lit area. The bathing platform and the cockpit are linked by a few steps, and the raised deck height leaves space for a tender garage, topped by a very comfortable solarium. There is also a second, larger sundeck aft of the windshield for the ultimate tanning experience.
Below deck
As we said before, on the Azimut 62S, the wheelhouse is accessed through a bay window and contains a comfortable saloon with flat screen TV. The space is brightly lit, thanks to the sun roof and 360° windows. There are two accesses to the lower deck, one leading directly to the galley and the other down to a second saloon with comfy couches and fabulous interior décor by Roberto Galeazzi, responsible for the ambiance on board all models in the range and renowned for his use of high quality materials. The master cabin is in the centre of the vessel and lit by the six square portholes. This spacious cabin is fitted with a desk and an angled double bed. Another equally spacious guest cabin is to be found in the bow. All cabins have their own bathrooms, with toilet, sink and jet shower for an onboard massage.
Engines
The 20 metre Azimut 62S is propelled by two powerful Caterpillar engines of 1015 HP each, enough power for the manufacturer to claim peak speeds of 30 knots.
