Zen Yacht 70
10/2007 –
Zen and the art of yachts
Construction
The company Zen Yacht has a solid reputation for boat repairs and maintenance, and has now decided to design its own yachts. The first born is a magnificent 70-foot motor yacht, the first in what looks like a very promising series.
Above deck
This model sits low in the water and has strikingly sleek lines. The deck is entirely covered with teak, except for the sundeck located forward of the sloping windshield, and which is covered with a non-slip surface. The other sundeck to the rear allows passengers to kick back, relax and enjoy the Zen-like atmosphere on board. Access from the aft sundeck to the bathing platform is easy, thanks to the two wide passageways on either side.
Below deck
On board the Zen Yacht 70, two sliding doors give access to the interior, which is exceptionally bright thanks to the large side windows and panoramic sunroof. On this level there is a spacious and comfortable saloon area, along with the high-tech pilot house, with a joystick instead of a wheel. As for the cabin layout, this yacht comes with two different deck plans. The first option is a four-cabin version with a large owner and guest cabin, plus two other cabins and the galley sharing the rest of the space. The second option also comes with four cabins, which are smaller but each have their own private bathroom. The cosy interior has a contemporary yet classical style, combining dark coloured furnishings and light coloured woodwork and cushions.
Engines
The 37 ton Zen Yacht 70 is driven by two 1675 hp Caterpillar diesel engines. The Italian manufacturer announces a maximum speed of 50 knots at full throttle and 43 knots at cruising speed, with approximately 65% engine use.
