International Yacht Bureau (IYB) recently finalized an agreement with the Italian classification society RINA (Registro Italiano Navale) to cooperate on their behalf as nonexclusive surveyors.

The level of specialized flag-state inspection knowledge in private and commercial yachts offered by IYB will compliment the vast experience that RINA already provides to the yachting industry.

“This new level of cooperation provides enormous benefits to yachts, including the harmonization of flag-state and class surveys,” stated Capt. Jake DesVergers, Chief Surveyor for IYB. “Our network of 35 survey stations will be trained on the specific rules for RINA-classed yachts, thus allowing our yacht-experienced surveyors to provide the Society with representation in the world’s main yachting locations.”
