Cannes Boat Show 2010: a bright shining sun on the yachting industry
09/2010 –
The Cannes International Boat & Yacht Show has opened under a bright shining sun. The boating industry, victim of the financial turmoil in 2008, would like to see here a sign announcing the return of spring. In the Riviera space of Cannes Boat Show, exhibitors offering all major projects suffer of a little lack of visibility, and daring clients. On the boats afloat side, manufacturers have showed again this year for innovation and dynamism. Particularly important, the fleet of catamarans attract many visitors to the center pontoon. Catana, for whom this show is the largest in orders, came with four revisited models as the Catana 42, which incorporates and improves the former 41. Lagoon has also come into force with five of its seven new models with its 450 and 560. This last unit is particularly successful in remaining suitable for family travel while offering solutions of mega yachts. Among all models, NauticNews.com has appreciated the Swiss Catamaran Concept S2C 55 that we visited last year and the Amber Cat designed by Erik Lerouge.

Motor and Mega Yachts in the port of Cannes.
NauticNews particularly enjoyed the Xsea 42 Open, a small unit to live passionately at sea, as well as the creations from the serbian shipyard ART OF KINETIK: the Hedonist and the Mazokist, all wooden striking design units. The SR 52 Blackbird, the new “small open” from the Norway shipyard Windy designed by Ed Dubois, the Grand Banks 53 Aleutian RP that we tried and particularly appreciated in terms of the quality of finish and seakeeping, without forgetting the Vicem 78, the latest unit from Vicem Yachts, the turkish shipyard specialized in the building of large wooden units, the Vicem 78 which brings with her the experience acquired by this shipyard with the 150 units that preceded it. The public is also able to find units that we had presented like the Asterie 50, the Moonen 97 Livia, the Hunton XRS 43 and Tamsen taTii. All these new features are to be discovered until Sept. 13th on the port of Cannes, setting perfectly suited to the sunny and vibrant Cannes Boat Show 2010.
