Limited Editions Amels 199 to be revealed at Monaco Yacht Show 2009
07/2009 –
AMELS announces the addition of an all-new model to its highly successful LIMITED EDITIONS range.
The AMELS 199 is designed with bold originality by Tim Heywood, with flexible interior styling by Nuvolari Lenard. At 1,045 Gross Tons, the AMELS 199 sets a new standard for superyacht owners who wish the ultimate in comfort, safety, performance, and lasting value. It also offers a grand indoor/outdoor beach club plus a very desirable touch-and-go helipad option.
Like prior LIMITED EDITIONS models-the AMELS 171, 177, and 212 – the AMELS 199 can be delivered in significantly less time than a new one-off design. The prime reason is that the AMELS 199 is soon to come off the drawing board and into production.
The AMELS 199 concept is enhanced by aesthetic and technical input from owners, crews, project managers, suppliers, brokers, Lloyd’s Register, Delft Technical University, MARIN, and AMELS’ highly regarded Continuous Improvement Program. The resulting yacht is filled with fresh ideas backed by AMELS’ renowned quality, engineering, and pioneering application of “green” features.
Tim Heywood gave the LIMITED EDITIONS AMELS 199 a unique shape-with gentle tumblehome, curved vertical stem, bridge-wing pods, arched deck supports, flared wings, round portlights, and vertical mullions. The form naturally creates large outside areas with convenient access to all luxury accommodations.
It also results in a 59.8-meter waterline on a 60-meter hull. This inspired AMELS’ naval architects to create a low-resistance underbody, through Computational Fluid Dynamics and thorough tank testing. It has ample volume, fine seakeeping, high fuel efficiency, and long range, and assures a 16.5-knot top speed (comparable to yachts of 66 or 67 meters LOA). Two 8-meter tenders plus lots of water toys, handled by overhead cranes, are stowed behind the forward topsides; the helipad is easily added atop the reinforced bridge.
The AMELS 199 has a 23-meter Sun Deck with protected dining aft and a Jacuzzi forward. The Bridge Deck has a lounge aft, and a private social area forward with Jacuzzi. There is direct access between the VIP/owners suite and the foredeck lounge, and between the three guest suites below and the 35 m2 beach club and 29 m2 swim platform.
Nuvolari Lenard created an attractive interior that fits perfectly into the overall style and structural possibilities of the design. Their “transitional” tailoring benefits from both traditional and contemporary styles. To their strong use of wood, such as bleached stained oak, they apply natural colors and warm materials, then select lighting to enhance colors and volumes. Within the General Arrangement, each owner can choose materials, joinery wood, panel style, trim, loose furniture, and add other details such as artworks, to personalize while remaining within project’s time frame and budget.
Engineering the AMELS 199 included 3-D design to optimize all features. Noise and vibration are greatly reduced. Machinery, systems, and safety components have a higher degree of redundancy and reliability. “Green” features include: low-power LED lighting; HUG filters to eliminate genset exhaust soot; genset energy output applied to heating fresh water; ecologically safe refrigerants and sewage treatment; fully insulated glass. This, plus hi-fog firefighting and other safety measures required by its Gross Tonnage, make the AMELS 199 compliant with ILO, LRS, and MCA rules, and Lloyd’s Environmental Protection (EP) notation. With all these amenities and qualities, the LIMITED EDITIONS AMELS 199 is a big ship with the a rare jewel’s finish, that will serve equally well as a private yacht or wise charter investment.
The LIMITED EDITIONS AMELS 199 will be introduced at the Monaco Yacht Show in September 2009.
