Grand Banks Yachts Announces new raised-pilothouse 55 Aleutian RP
Grand Banks Yachts announced at the 2014 Grand Banks Worldwide Dealer Meeting a new addition to the Aleutian Series of raised-pilothouse yachts, with the introduction of the Grand Banks 55 Aleutian RP (“55RP”).
The 55RP will build off the success of the Grand Banks 53 Aleutian RP (“53RP”) which made her debut in 2010. The two extra feet are readily apparent, from more space in the cockpit and flybridge, added length in the acclaimed utility room, and an ali-new dedicated transom locker that will accommodate up to four large 18″ x 29″ (45cm x 73cm) fenders.
“The 55RP is a fantastic next step in the popular Aleutian Series;’ says Earl Alfaro, Grand Banks’ Product Development Manager. “The extra space at 55 feet combined with the introduction of a unique hull form will provide her owners with an unprecedented level of comfort, performance, and confidence that only Grand Banks can deliver:’
Other features on board the 55RP will include a second transom door for cockpit access, integrated wing engine control stations, comfortable aft staircase to the flybridge, a large swim platform (that can be equipped with a Sealift tender lift system), and expanded provisions for galley storage and seating.
The 55RP will also boast a progressive, new interior created by Ardeo Design, Inc, that incorporates more materials and textures to create a lighter and warmer interior ambiance.
The standard power offering aboard the 55RP will be twin Cummins QSM11 diesel engines, rated at 715 (mph), with a projected cruise speed of20 knots and a max speed of24 knots. Optional engine offerings will include both Volvo and MAN diesels with horsepower options up to 800 (mph). (Note: Performance figures are projections and subject to change.)
The first hull of the 55RP is slated for completion at the end of June 2014 and will ship to Australia, while the second hull will be heading to its home in Florida at the end of July and will be making its international debut at the 2014 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show.
